Warsaw is a city of resilience. Almost completely destroyed during World War II, the Old Town was painstakingly reconstructed using original bricks and paintings, earning it UNESCO World Heritage status. Today, Warsaw is a rapidly modernizing metropolis where Soviet-era blocks, like the Palace of Culture and Science, stand alongside gleaming modern skyscrapers designed by world-renowned architects. It is the political and economic engine of Poland. The city is deeply connected to the composer Frédéric Chopin (whose heart is buried in a local church) and has a vibrant museum culture, including the Warsaw Uprising Museum and the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
